President JP Nadda of the BJP has been extended until June 2024

JP Nadda's tenure as the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been extended until June of the current year. This decision, initially announced in January by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, received formal approval from the party's national council during its session on Sunday.

Additionally, JP Nadda has been vested with the authority to make significant decisions independently, although such decisions will subsequently require ratification by the party's parliamentary board.

The decision to extend Nadda's term was reached on the second day of the BJP's national council gathering in Delhi, which saw the participation of numerous party members alongside senior leadership figures. The discussions during the meeting focused on the party's strategic direction and campaign themes for the impending Lok Sabha elections.

JP Nadda assumed the role of BJP's working president in 2019, following the appointment of Amit Shah as a Union minister. He subsequently assumed the full-time presidency of the party in 2020.

During the announcement of Nadda's tenure extension as BJP's national president in January, Amit Shah highlighted the achievements under Nadda's leadership, citing successes such as the impressive electoral performance in Bihar, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, as well as a resounding victory in Gujarat.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, Nadda expressed his unwavering confidence in the capabilities of party workers, urging all BJP members to redouble their efforts to ensure electoral success. "I have unshakable faith in the strengths and abilities of our karyakartas (workers). We must strengthen our grassroots presence further. Let us channel all our energies into surpassing the 370-seat mark, with the NDA crossing 400 seats," Nadda asserted.
