Russia files a criminal complaint against the brother of Putin opponent Alexei Navalny

According to a report from the TASS state news agency on Tuesday, Russia has instigated a fresh legal proceeding against Oleg Navalny, the sibling of the deceased Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny.

The TASS report did not specify the specific provision of the criminal code under which the case had been initiated, but it mentioned that law enforcement authorities are actively seeking Oleg Navalny, who was previously listed as wanted in connection with another legal matter.

Back in 2014, Oleg Navalny was handed a 3.5-year prison sentence on charges of fraud, a case that critics of the Kremlin argued was fabricated and intended to exert pressure on his now deceased brother.
