Saying that he hunted tigers 37 years ago, Shinde Sena MLA sports a tiger's tooth as an accessory

Sanjay Gaikwad, a legislator affiliated with the faction led by Eknath Shinde within the Shiv Sena party, recently made a revelation regarding an incident from 1987, claiming that he had engaged in the hunting of a tiger during that time period. Additionally, Gaikwad asserted that he possesses a tooth from the tiger, which he proudly wears around his neck.

The disclosure came to light through a viral video circulating on social media platforms, featuring Gaikwad discussing the origin of the tiger tooth ornament he adorns. In the footage, Gaikwad candidly acknowledges his involvement in the hunting expedition, providing insight into the circumstances surrounding the acquisition of the tooth.

The exchange, captured in the video, appears to have occurred on Monday during the commemoration of Shiv Jayanti, marking the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Notably, the video was disseminated online by Saamana, the media outlet associated with the rival faction led by Uddhav Thackeray within the Shiv Sena party.

It is worth noting that the act of hunting tigers had been outlawed as a criminal offense in India well before the purported incident in 1987, adding a layer of controversy to Gaikwad's revelation. Despite attempts to reach out to Gaikwad for further clarification, there has been no response forthcoming.
