Strict action will be taken if this is true: Siddaramaiah over the "pro-Pak" chants

The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had voiced allegations suggesting that during the aftermath of Congress leader Naseer Hussain's triumph in the Rajya Sabha elections, provocative pro-Pakistan chants resonated within the chambers of the Karnataka Assembly. Reacting to these claims, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah issued a stern warning on Thursday, asserting that stringent measures would be implemented if the BJP's accusations were substantiated. He further emphasized the necessity for a comprehensive investigation by the Forensic Science Lab (FSL) to ascertain the veracity of these claims.

The purported incident purportedly occurred on Tuesday, immediately following the announcement of the results of the Karnataka Rajya Sabha polls, where the Congress clinched three seats while the BJP managed to secure one through instances of cross-voting.

The BJP contended that amidst the jubilant atmosphere pervading the Karnataka Assembly in celebration of Naseer Hussain's victory, chants of "Pakistan Zindabad" were purportedly raised by members of the Congress party.

In response, the ruling party in the state not only rebuffed these allegations but also initiated a counter-complaint against BJP leaders for staging protests and allegedly causing disruption outside the Congress office.

Speaking to the press on Wednesday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah disclosed, "We have forwarded the audio recordings to the FSL for analysis, and a conclusive determination can only be made upon receipt of the report." He further asserted, "If anyone is found culpable, strict punitive measures will be enforced."

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar dismissed the BJP's assertions as a mere "conspiracy," refuting any claims of incendiary slogans being raised. Additionally, he pledged, "We will take decisive action against those who propagate falsehoods."

The proceedings within the Karnataka Assembly on Wednesday were marred by uproar as a consequence of these contentious allegations.
