The son of a BJP leader was one of ten people detained at a Hyderabad hotel for drug use

According to officials, the Hyderabad Police detained a total of ten individuals, including the offspring of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) figure, for both the possession and usage of cocaine at a gathering held within the confines of a five-star hotel room. The arrested party-goers were ensnared in an operation led by law enforcement authorities, which unfolded at the Radisson Blu hotel located in Gachibowli.

Gajjala Vivekanand, recognized as the son of BJP luminary G Yoganand and the grandson of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah, found himself among those apprehended on charges of consuming cocaine during the aforementioned hotel room event. Additionally, nine other individuals, including Syed Abbas Ali Jeffery, Nirbhay, and Kedhar, were also brought into custody in connection with the same incident.

The police's intervention was spurred by a tip-off, prompting a thorough search of the hotel premises, resulting in the confiscation of three used plastic packets containing cocaine, each weighing approximately one gram before consumption. Furthermore, authorities seized paraphernalia associated with drug use, such as white-colored paper typically utilized for such purposes, along with three mobile phones.

Subsequent to an initial inquiry, law enforcement officers proceeded to Vivekanand's residence in Jubilee Hills, where he was escorted to the police station for further interrogation. During the course of questioning, Vivekanand confessed to orchestrating the gathering within his Radisson Blu hotel suite, where the consumption of cocaine had occurred. Notably, Vivekanand's involvement was corroborated by his positive drug test results obtained during a subsequent medical examination.

Aged 37, Vivekanand holds the position of Director within the Manjeera Group of Companies and is the son of businessman G Yoganand, who had previously contested in the Telangana polls representing the BJP from the Serilingampally Assembly constituency.

The ongoing investigation aims to uncover the identities of the drug suppliers involved in the distribution chain, as well as to identify any additional individuals implicated in the consumption of narcotics during the event.
