Two police officers "planted" narcotics on a student near Pune and demanded Rs 4.98 lakh; a complaint was lodged

Allegedly, a group comprising two law enforcement officers and six other individuals reportedly coerced a 19-year-old student into handing over Rs 4.98 lakh in Maharashtra's Pimpri-Chinchwad by purportedly threatening to fabricate drug-related charges against him. Subsequently, authorities have initiated legal proceedings against the aforementioned suspects based on the student's complaint, leading to the apprehension of four individuals thus far.

The individuals implicated in this case include Anil Chaudhary, Aman Sheikh, Hussain Dange, Mohammad Ahmar Mirza, Shankar Gorde, Munna Swami, Sub-Inspector Hemant Gaikwad, and Constable Sachin Shejwal.

According to police reports, the accused individuals allegedly exploited the student's vulnerability by cultivating a rapport with him and gathering personal information. Subsequently, they devised a scheme to extort money upon discovering his affluent status. This scheme involved luring the student to a cafe where the perpetrators surreptitiously placed a packet of narcotics in his possession.

Following this setup, the accused officers conducted a search, purportedly discovering the drugs, and subsequently coerced the student into transferring Rs 4.98 lakh to their account under the threat of implicating him in a marijuana possession case, initially demanding Rs 20 lakh.
