UP lady detained for hiring man to use bottles to create bombs

In Uttar Pradesh, authorities apprehended a woman on Saturday for purportedly commissioning a man to fabricate time bombs. The arrest unfolded shortly after the UP Special Task Force (STF) intercepted and detained the man she had allegedly compensated to fashion time bombs utilizing glass bottles filled with iron pellets.

As per STF reports, the individual in question, identified as Javed, was en route to deliver the explosive devices to the woman when authorities intervened.

During interrogation, Javed disclosed that the woman had remunerated him Rs 10,000 for the assignment, with the promise of an additional Rs 40,000 upon successful delivery of the bombs.

These improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were assembled from glass containers packed with a lethal concoction of gunpowder, iron pellets, cotton, and Plaster of Paris.

Javed sourced materials such as glucose bottles and iron pellets from local vendors, including doctors and bicycle shops, and even repurposed watches in the assembly of these explosive devices.

His proficiency in bomb-making was primarily self-acquired, supplemented by occasional guidance from his uncle, a manufacturer of firecrackers, and further supplemented by online research via platforms such as YouTube and the Internet.

The woman recounted to authorities that following the communal riots in Muzaffarnagar in 2013, which resulted in damage to her residence, she felt compelled to resort to such extreme measures in case of any future outbreaks of violence.

She also acknowledged having previously harbored similar explosive devices at her domicile, which were eventually passed on to other individuals.
