UP man murders wife, parades in Barabanki with her severed head, and is apprehended

In Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki, a man was apprehended on Friday while making his way to the police station with his wife's decapitated head in one hand and a sickle in the other. Identified as Anil Kanojia and hailing from Basara village, he stands accused of severing his wife's head, purportedly driven by suspicions of her involvement in an extramarital affair.

Allegedly, Kanojia, employed as a mechanic, launched the gruesome attack on his wife within the confines of their home shortly after returning from work. Their marital union spanned eight years before this tragic event unfolded.

Footage capturing Kanojia's barefoot journey, clutching his wife's severed head, has circulated widely, depicting him displaying the sickle to bystanders along the roadside as he traversed towards the police station. Law enforcement officials intervened and detained him en route.

Authorities have confiscated the weapon and initiated interrogation proceedings with Kanojia. Meanwhile, the deceased wife's body has been dispatched for autopsy procedures.

Following the unsettling incident, the village has been gripped by tension, prompting the deployment of police forces to uphold order and tranquility in the vicinity.

This occurrence in Barabanki follows closely on the heels of a similar episode in West Bengal's East Midnapore, where a man was apprehended for allegedly beheading his wife. Witnesses observed him near a bus stop, carrying the severed head of his spouse, leading to his arrest.
