US mom accused of abusing children after hitting her 7-year-old son with a vehicle

In the state of Alabama, a woman faced charges of aggravated child abuse after an incident where she accidentally ran over her seven-year-old son with a vehicle as a disciplinary measure for misbehavior at school.

As per a report from Fox News, the accused individual was identified as Sarai Rachel James, aged 27, and the occurrence transpired on February 9 within Boaz city limits.

Reports indicated that James was notified of her son's disciplinary issue, which prompted her to pick him up from school. Subsequently, she decided to employ the disciplinary action of having him walk home as a consequence of his behavior.

However, during this process, when James slowed down the vehicle, her son attempted to open the car door, leading to a tragic accident where he was pulled underneath the vehicle and subsequently run over by the rear tire.

As a result of the incident, the child sustained abrasions and necessitated hospitalization. Investigators concluded that the mother unintentionally caused the injury, with a city police official remarking that it was fortunate that the child's injuries were not more severe.

Following her arrest, James was subsequently released on a $50,000 bond after three days in custody.
