A cartoon and a rumor: American media make light of the Kate-gate scandal

The ongoing saga surrounding the edited family photo of the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, seems to have captured the attention of the US media, leading to open mockery of the British royal couple, Kate and Prince William. The Washington Post recently published a cartoon by Pia Guerra, reminiscent of a scene from the classic 90s Christmas film 'Home Alone,' depicting Prince William using a cutout of Kate Middleton to create the illusion of her presence.

Additionally, late-night host Stephen Colbert added fuel to the fire during a recent episode of his 'Late Show,' where he humorously shared speculation surrounding Kate Middleton's mysterious absence. According to Colbert, internet sleuths have suggested that Kate's absence may be linked to rumors of Prince William's alleged affair with Lady Sarah Rose Hanbury, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley. Colbert quipped about Prince William's response to Kate's concerns about the rumors, humorously noting, "Haha, always a good response when your wife accuses you of cheating."

Lady Sarah Rose Hanbury, who is married to David Cholmondeley, the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley, has been a close friend of Prince William, further fueling speculation. While it remains uncertain if there has been any falling out between Kate and Sarah Rose, the rumors surrounding their relationship have resurfaced amid the ongoing controversy.

Kensington Palace has yet to address these rumors, adding to the intrigue surrounding Kate Middleton's recent secretive recovery from abdominal surgery, reportedly undergone in January. The Royal Family has faced increased scrutiny following the photo controversy, sparked by an AI-generated family portrait released on Mother's Day. Despite Kensington Palace's explanation attributing the confusion to photo editing experimentation, the incident has only intensified speculation about Kate Middleton's health and whereabouts, casting a shadow over the royal family's public image.
