A ceiling grille collapses into the Greater Noida mall lobby, killing two people



Today, tragically, at least two individuals lost their lives, and numerous others sustained injuries following an incident where a ceiling grille collapsed into the lobby of a mall situated in Greater Noida.

The distressing occurrence unfolded within the premises of the Blue Sapphire Mall, casting a shadow of grief and concern over the vicinity.

The deceased, identified as Harendra Bhati and Shakeel, both aged 35 and hailing from Ghaziabad, met their untimely demise as a result of being struck by the fallen ceiling grille.

The sudden calamity sparked panic among the mall's visitors, prompting the swift intervention of senior police officials and personnel, who promptly responded to the scene.

The bodies of the deceased have been respectfully transferred for post-mortem examination, as part of the investigative process to ascertain the circumstances leading to this unfortunate incident.

Providing insights into the incident, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Hridesh Kathariya, in a succinct communication to the media, disclosed that the iron grille plummeted from the fifth floor of the mall.

Furthermore, he elaborated that the victims, while traversing towards the escalator, encountered the unforeseen collapse of the grille, which served as a protective barrier, resulting in their tragic demise on the spot.

DCP Kathariya affirmed that a comprehensive investigation is currently underway to shed light on the causes and implications of this distressing event.
