A woman near Bengal's Malda delivers a baby aboard a moving train with the assistance of other passengers

A heartwarming incident occurred on the Padatik Express journey from Sealdah to New Alipurduar, where a woman named Babli Bibi unexpectedly went into labor. In the bustling atmosphere of the train's general compartment, Babli Bibi delivered a healthy baby girl as the train approached Malda in West Bengal.

The sudden onset of labor spurred passengers and train staff into swift action, as they immediately sought medical assistance. Responding promptly to the urgent situation, a medical team from the District Railway Hospital (DRH) in Malda rushed to the scene and provided the necessary care.

With the expertise of the medical team, both mother and child received the essential attention required for a safe delivery. Inside the train's general compartment, the medical professionals performed cord division and placental delivery, ensuring the well-being of both Babli Bibi and her newborn daughter.

Following the successful delivery, both mother and baby were reported to be in good health. Upon reaching Malda, they were transferred to a hospital for further observation and care, under the diligent supervision of medical professionals.

This heartening incident echoes a similar event from last year, where a woman gave birth on the Mumbai-Howrah Mail train. The train was halted at an unscheduled station in West Bengal's Howrah district to facilitate the mother and baby's transfer to a hospital.

In that instance, Manjila Khatun and her husband Rezaul Gazi, hailing from Bangladesh's Satkhira district, were returning from Mumbai after seeking medical treatment. The unexpected labor pains led to the premature birth of their baby on the train, prompting their transfer to a Kolkata hospital for specialized care and treatment.
