Kannada actor Shivarajkumar announced on Tuesday his intention to support his wife, Geetha Shivarajkumar, as she gears up to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections from the Shivamogga constituency. Geetha Shivarajkumar's candidacy was officially endorsed by the Congress in its list of candidates announced on March 9.
Speaking in Belagavi, Shivarajkumar confirmed his readiness to engage in campaign activities as required. He emphasized that he has refrained from soliciting fellow actors to participate in his wife's campaign, acknowledging the high-pressure environment of electoral contests. Shivarajkumar stressed the importance of respecting the autonomy of other actors and not exploiting their support for personal gain.
It's noteworthy that Shivarajkumar had previously campaigned for the Congress during the Karnataka Assembly elections.
Geetha Shivarajkumar, hailing from a prominent political family, is the daughter of former Chief Minister Sarekoppa Bangarappa. Her brother, Madhu Bangarappa, serves as a state minister, while another brother, Kumar Bangarappa, is affiliated with the BJP.
When questioned about the possibility of facilitating reconciliation within the Bangarappa family, Shivarajkumar asserted his role as a son-in-law rather than a direct family member. He maintained that the responsibility of family unity does not fall within his purview.
