After colliding with a cargo train close to Ajmer, a fast passenger train derails

In an unfortunate incident, at least four coaches and the engine of the Sabarmati-Agra Cantt Superfast Express derailed in Ajmer, Rajasthan, following a collision with a goods train. The collision, which took place near Madar Railway Station around 1:04 am, resulted in minor injuries to several passengers.

Railway officials reported that despite the loco pilot's efforts to apply emergency brakes, the collision could not be avoided.

In a statement shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), a senior official of the North Western Railway assured that there were no fatalities in the accident. Immediate action was taken, with railway officials promptly reaching the accident site and deploying an accident relief train to facilitate track restoration work.

Additionally, a help desk has been established by the Railways at Ajmer station, and a helpline number (0145-2429642) has been made available for assistance.

This incident recalls a similar occurrence in January of this year when two coaches of a Bhopal-bound express train derailed in Kota, Rajasthan. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries in that incident.
