Akhilesh Yadav writes a letter to Rahul Gandhi and foregoes the INDIA bloc event in Mumbai

On Sunday, Akhilesh Yadav, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav were slated to participate in an event. However, the absence of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav from the gathering became apparent.

In a letter dated March 17 addressed to Rahul Gandhi, the former Congress president, Akhilesh Yadav conveyed his heartfelt congratulations for Gandhi's resolute commitment on the occasion of concluding the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. He lauded Gandhi as a rare individual capable of embarking on such an extensive journey.

Acknowledging the culmination of the yatra in Mumbai, Yadav praised Gandhi's initiative, particularly noting the symbolic commencement from Manipur, a state grappling with challenges under BJP governance. He commended Gandhi for highlighting the plight of the northeast and for engaging with diverse segments of society, including farmers, youth, women, and seniors, to gain firsthand insight into their concerns.

Yadav expressed regret for his inability to attend the yatra's closing ceremony due to upcoming electoral commitments in Uttar Pradesh, where preparations for nominations commence on March 20. However, he conveyed his unwavering confidence in the electorate's resolve to reject the BJP, which he perceives as antagonistic towards various demographic groups.

Highlighting the strategic alliance between the SP and Congress for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, Yadav emphasized their joint efforts to contest against the BJP. The alliance delineated a seat-sharing arrangement, with the SP allocating 17 seats to Congress in UP, including significant constituencies like Rae Bareli, Amethi, and Varanasi.

Accompanied by his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Rahul Gandhi concluded the yatra in Mumbai on Saturday, symbolically paying homage to Dr. B R Ambedkar at Chaityabhoomi and reaffirming his commitment to the ideals enshrined in the Constitution.

The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which commenced on January 14 from Manipur, traversed through various regions, eventually entering Mumbai from Thane on its 63rd day. This initiative aimed to foster grassroots connections and raise awareness about pertinent socio-political issues across the nation.
