Amit Shah and Raj Thackeray meet amid rumors of a Maharashtra tie-up

Today in Delhi, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray met with Home Minister and BJP heavyweight Amit Shah, fueling speculation about the party's potential inclusion in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Accompanied by his son Amit Thackeray, the outspoken leader engaged in discussions with Amit Shah, raising anticipation over MNS's potential collaboration with the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance in Maharashtra for the forthcoming parliamentary polls.

Reports suggest that Raj Thackeray arrived in Delhi on Monday night, coinciding with the presence of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and state BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule in the capital.

It's rumored that Thackeray may seek two seats, South Mumbai and Shirdi, for the MNS in the alliance.

Raj Thackeray, the cousin of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, hails from a political family associated with the Shiv Sena. Despite their family ties, Raj Thackeray's MNS and Uddhav Thackeray's faction of the Shiv Sena have had political differences. The Shiv Sena experienced a split into two factions in 2022, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, which further complicated the political landscape in Maharashtra.

As of now, the ruling alliance in Maharashtra comprises the BJP, NCP, and the faction led by Eknath Shinde within the Shiv Sena.
