Anupriya Patel, the head of Apna Dal (S), receives Z category protection due to safety fears

Following a comprehensive threat assessment report furnished by the Intelligence Bureau (IB), the Union Home Ministry has taken the decisive step of elevating the security detail of Apna Dal (Sonelal) leader, Anupriya Patel, in Uttar Pradesh, by granting her Z category security.

Previously, Anupriya Patel, serving as a Union Minister of State, was afforded a Y-category security shield. However, in light of evolving security dynamics, the ministry deemed it necessary to upgrade her security status.

Under the enhanced security protocol, a dedicated contingent of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) commandos will be tasked with providing round-the-clock protection to Patel. This elite protection entails a comprehensive arrangement, encompassing a team of 33 security personnel. This includes 10 armed static guards stationed at the VIP's residence, six Personal Security Officers (PSOs) providing continuous protection, 12 armed escort commandos operating in three shifts, two vigilant watchers per shift, and three proficient drivers to ensure seamless mobility.

The decision underscores the paramount importance accorded by the Union Home Ministry to safeguarding the lives of prominent individuals in the country. Regular meetings are convened by the ministry to evaluate and address potential threats faced by individuals of significance.

In a parallel development, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan was recently accorded Z+ security in January, amidst mounting tensions stemming from conflicts with the Student Federation of India (SFI), further underscoring the proactive measures undertaken by the government to ensure the safety and security of key figures.
