As Haryana MP Brijendra Singh joins the Congress, the BJP suffers

Shortly after publicly announcing his resignation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on X, Brijendra Singh, the Member of Parliament representing Hisar, Haryana, took steps to formally join the Congress party, citing "compelling political reasons" for his departure from the BJP fold.

In a significant political move ahead of the impending Lok Sabha elections, Brijendra Singh, hailing from a political lineage with his father being BJP leader Birender Singh, decided to sever his ties with the BJP and align himself with the opposition Congress. Expressing his appreciation for the opportunities provided to him within the BJP, Singh extended his thanks to the party leadership, including National President Shri J P Nadda, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, and Shri Amit Shah, for entrusting him with the responsibility of serving as the Member of Parliament for Hisar.

Following his resignation, Brijendra Singh promptly proceeded to the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi, where he formally joined the Congress party in the presence of senior party leaders including Ajay Maken, Mukul Wasnik, and Deepak Babaria. This marked a significant shift in Singh's political allegiance, signaling his intent to align himself with the Congress party's ideology and objectives.

Sources within the Congress party revealed that Brijendra Singh, who transitioned from a career in bureaucracy to politics, is likely to be nominated as the party's candidate from the Hisar constituency in the upcoming elections, reflecting the party's confidence in his leadership and electoral viability.

In the previous Lok Sabha elections held in 2019, Brijendra Singh secured victory in the Hisar constituency, defeating prominent opponents such as Dushyant Chautala of the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) and Bhavya Bishnoi, who was then associated with the Congress party.

It's worth noting that Brijendra Singh comes from a distinguished political lineage, being the great-grandson of the revered Jat leader Sir Chhotu Ram, further adding to his political pedigree and influence in the region.
