Before the elections, Tipra Motha will join the Tripura government: State BJP head

State BJP chief Rajib Bhattacharjee announced on Wednesday that Tipra Motha, the primary opposition party in Tripura, will be integrated into the BJP-led government ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

According to Bhattacharjee, Tipra Motha, headed by royal scion Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma, with its contingent of 13 MLAs, is poised to join the BJP-IPFT coalition government prior to the parliamentary polls. However, the precise date for the induction of ministers into the government remains undecided.

This development follows closely on the heels of the Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance, more commonly referred to as Tipra Motha, entering into a tripartite agreement with both the state and central administrations on March 2.

The agreement, brokered in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, and Pradyot Debbarma, signals a concerted effort to address a myriad of issues confronting the indigenous populace of Tripura. These encompass historical grievances, land and political rights, economic development, as well as matters pertaining to cultural identity and language.

As part of the accord, a Joint Working Group will be established to meticulously deliberate and implement the mutually agreed-upon initiatives within a stipulated timeframe, ensuring a dignified resolution to the indigenous community's concerns.
