Delhi Lieutenant Governor accuses Arvind Kejriwal of stalling the principal's dismissal

The secretariat of the Delhi Lieutenant Governor has accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of delaying the dismissal of Dr. Ishwar Singh, the principal of Baba Saheb Ambedkar (BSA) Medical College, in a sexual harassment case. According to the Lieutenant Governor's office, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in his capacity as the chairman of the National Capital Civil Service Authority (NCCSA), had been sitting on the file for over 45 days despite reminders to expedite the matter.

The Lt. Governor's secretariat highlighted this delay as a serious instance of negligence on the part of CM Kejriwal, lamenting that crucial actions such as transfer postings and vigilance measures on sensitive issues couldn't be initiated due to the CM's inaction. Recognizing the gravity of the case, the Lieutenant Governor directed the Delhi Police to swiftly initiate criminal proceedings and urged the Chief Secretary to expedite the disciplinary process.

It's noted that Arvind Kejriwal is presently in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate after being arrested in connection with a money laundering case related to an alleged liquor policy scam. Despite his detention, the AAP has affirmed that Kejriwal will not resign as Chief Minister and will continue to discharge his duties even from jail if necessary. Earlier this week, Kejriwal issued two orders from the probe agency's custody.

The Enforcement Directorate has implicated Kejriwal as the "mastermind" of the liquor policy scam, alleging his direct involvement in formulating the policy. However, Kejriwal's legal team has countered these accusations, arguing that there is no concrete evidence directly linking him to the case.
