DMK MP: Tamil Nadu will never accept Ram and Bharat Mata from the BJP

DMK MP A Raja ignited controversy on Tuesday with his assertion that Tamil Nadu would firmly reject the BJP's ideology concerning "Jai Shri Ram" and "Bharat Mata", sparking fresh debate.

Addressing a public gathering in Madurai, the former Union Minister emphasized Tamil Nadu's steadfast stance against the BJP's interpretation of "Jai Shri Ram" and "Bharat Mata ki Jai", prompting a swift response from the BJP, which criticized what it termed as "hate speeches from the DMK's camp."

Raja delved into the subject, questioning the BJP's depiction of Ram and Bharat Mata, and recounted teachings from his Tamil instructor highlighting Ram's inclusivity in the Ramayana narrative.

Moreover, Raja expressed the view that India constitutes not merely a nation but a subcontinent, advocating for recognition and respect for diverse cultural practices, such as dietary habits, across the country.

Alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had predicted the DMK's obliteration in Tamil Nadu post the Lok Sabha elections, Raja warned of dire consequences, suggesting that the absence of the DMK could lead to the dissolution of India itself, implying a connection between the party's survival and the integrity of the nation.

Amit Malviya, head of the BJP's IT cell, rebuked Raja, condemning his remarks as advocating for the disintegration of India and disparaging Lord Ram. Malviya also criticized the silence of Congress and other allies within the I.N.D.I Alliance, particularly questioning Rahul Gandhi's reticence on the matter.

These remarks by Raja emerged following a Supreme Court rebuke of another DMK leader, Udhayanidhi Stalin, for his comments regarding 'Sanatana Dharma', with the court admonishing him for allegedly overstepping his rights.
