Donald Trump meets with Elon Musk and wants to raise money for his campaign

The New York Times reported on Tuesday that former President Donald Trump held a meeting with billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk in Florida over the weekend to discuss fundraising strategies for his upcoming re-election campaign.

The meeting took place in Palm Beach on Sunday and included Musk along with several wealthy Republican donors, although the specific individuals present were not disclosed by The New York Times.

According to the report, Trump expressed a desire to have direct conversations with Musk, who serves as the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, as well as the owner-executive chairman of X (formerly Twitter), in the near future.

Trump's interest in securing additional financial support for his presidential bid comes amidst financial challenges stemming from legal battles, including a New York civil fraud case and a separate defamation trial.

With a net worth estimated at around $200 billion by Forbes, Musk holds considerable financial influence and could potentially offset President Joe Biden's financial advantage in the upcoming 2024 general election campaign.

Although Musk has not explicitly confirmed his support for Trump, he has indicated his opposition to President Biden through social media posts, particularly criticizing the administration's immigration policies and alleging that Biden has been "importing voters."

Despite his significant wealth, Musk has maintained a politically neutral stance and has previously donated to both Democratic and Republican causes, as reported by The New York Times.

Neither Musk nor Trump's campaign has provided comments or responses regarding the details of the meeting, as per The New York Times report.
