Family knows what transpired with Sheena and has documentation: By Indrani Mukerjea | Only

Indrani Mukherjee, the primary suspect in the tragic demise of her daughter Sheena Bora, maintains that various members within her familial circle possess knowledge regarding the events surrounding Bora's fate. She can possess substantial evidence supporting this assertion, indirectly alluding to her former spouse, Peter Mukerjea.

In an exclusive discourse with India Today, Indrani Mukerjea divulged that she possesses a trove of evidence to substantiate her claims, with a considerable portion already submitted to the judicial system. "I firmly believe that there are individuals within the family who possess insights into Sheena's plight," she remarked when prompted about her perspectives on her daughter's mysterious disappearance in 2012.

Expressing unwavering confidence in her stance, she stated, "I am resolutely convinced of this reality, and indeed, I have initiated legal proceedings to that effect. However, I refrain from making definitive statements until I have irrefutable evidence." When questioned if her assertions were directed towards Peter Mukerjea, she chose not to elaborate at the moment, citing, "I am not in a position to disclose that presently. Nonetheless, I do harbor suspicions."

"I believe there exists a plethora of evidence already on record. Additionally, we intend to present further evidence from our defense standpoint," she added.

Indrani and Peter entered matrimony in 2002, eventually parting ways in 2017. Peter Mukerjea, a prominent figure in the media realm associated with Star India and INX Media, was her husband. Sheena was Indrani's offspring from her earlier marriage to Siddharta Das.

The 52-year-old Mukerjee shared her insights with India Today coinciding with the release of a Netflix documentary titled 'The Indrani Mukerjea Story: The Buried Truth'. Despite opposition from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the documentary was eventually streamed on February 29 following approval from the Bombay High Court.

Touching upon the DNA examination results aligning with the specimens obtained from a body discovered in 2015, Indrani informed India Today that the DNA expert himself testified in court, labeling the report counterfeit.

"The initial body discovery dates back to 2012, with no accompanying DNA report. Subsequently, in 2015, another body surfaced, allegedly with a corresponding DNA examination yielding a match with a blood sample. However, during the expert testimony, discrepancies emerged, as the expert confessed to manipulating allele numbers within the electropherogram, resulting in a false match," Mukerjea elaborated.

Regarding the rationale behind abstaining from a fresh examination, she cited the "conclusion of the investigation" as the primary reason.

"We have lodged numerous requests, albeit met with no progress. For instance, when a woman claimed to have encountered Sheena, we petitioned for an inquiry. Being a law enforcement officer, the lady herself was willing to pinpoint the exact location. Any existing CCTV footage could have been retrieved. However, no action was taken," she lamented.

This inaction, according to her, speaks volumes and is indicative of a grave deficiency in the investigative process.

Sheena Bora purportedly met her demise through strangulation in a vehicle by Indrani Mukerjea, alongside her then-driver Shyamvar Rai and former husband Sanjeev Khanna in April 2012. Subsequently, her body was incinerated in a forest within Maharashtra's Raigad district, as per the findings of the investigative agency.

The revelation of the murder surfaced in 2015 following Rai's confession after his apprehension in an unrelated case.

Indrani Mukerjea was apprehended in August 2015 and granted bail in May 2022. Other implicated individuals, namely Rai, Khanna, and Peter Mukerjea are also out on bail.

The trial for this case purportedly nears its conclusion.
