Family of Andhra lady claims she committed suicide, accusing internet trolling

The tragic suicide of Geetanjali in Andhra Pradesh has sparked outrage and raised concerns about online harassment and cyberbullying. Geetanjali's family alleges that she took her own life after facing relentless trolling on social media by workers of opposition parties, particularly the TDP and Jana Sena, for expressing support for Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy.

According to the police, Geetanjali was found injured near Tenali Railway Station and later succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment. It is reported that she faced severe trolling after her interview in local media channels went viral, where she spoke favorably about receiving a land patta.

In response to the incident, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed his condolences to Geetanjali's family and announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 20 lakh. He also instructed officials to provide immediate support to the bereaved family and take strong action against those responsible for the inappropriate comments on social media.

The ruling YSRCP workers have staged protests demanding justice for Geetanjali, highlighting the need for accountability and measures to prevent such tragic incidents of online harassment in the future.
