Final seat-sharing round for NDA in Bihar, BJP to run on 17, Nitish Kumar's JDU on 16



The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) bloc has finalized the seat-sharing arrangement in Bihar ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. According to the pact announced on Monday, the BJP will contest on 17 seats, while Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)] will contest on 16 seats.

The announcement was made by Vinod Tawde, BJP's General Secretary, during a joint press conference held by members of the Bihar NDA alliance.

Under the seat-sharing agreement, key seats like Pashchim Champaran, Purvi Champaran, Aurangabad, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Maharajganj, Saran, Begusarai, Nawada, Patna Sahib, Patliputra, Aara, Buxar, and Sasaram will see BJP candidates.

On the other hand, JD(U) will field candidates in Valmiki Nagar, Sitamadhi, Jhanjharpur, Supaul, Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnia, Madhepura, Gopalganj, Siwan, Bhagalpur, Banka, Munger, Nalanda, Jehanabad, and Sheohar constituencies.

Additionally, the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) faction led by Chirag Paswan will contest on five seats—Vaishali, Hajipur, Samastipur, Khagariya, and Jamui.

However, the seat-sharing agreement with the LJP faction led by Minister Pashupati Paras was not mentioned during the announcement. Bihar BJP chief Samrat Choudhary stated that talks with him are ongoing.

Furthermore, the Jitan Ram Manjhi-led Hindustani Aawam Morcha (HAM) and Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) will contest one seat each.

The Lok Sabha elections in Bihar will be held in seven phases April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1. The results will be announced on June 4.
