Following a breach, more than 250 central security officers will be stationed at Parliament

To address security concerns stemming from the significant breach at Parliament in December 2023, over 250 additional Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel will be deployed at the Parliament House complex. This move, approved by CISF Director General Nina Singh, marks an essential upgrade in security measures.

The deployment plan involves allocating more than 230 personnel to the security division, with the remaining individuals assigned to the Force's Fire Department. The aim is to strengthen the existing CISF security presence at Parliament.

The augmented staff will include 12 inspectors, 45 sub-inspectors, 30 assistant sub-inspectors, 35 head constables, and 85 constables.

Initially introduced in January, the CISF had stationed 140 personnel at specific entry points in Parliament. Their responsibilities included visitor frisking and baggage screening at designated entrance gates.

The breach in December 2023, when two individuals entered the Lok Sabha chamber, released gas canisters, and shouted slogans during the Winter Session, prompted concerns and questions about security protocols.

The intruders had obtained authorization passes from Pratap Simha, a BJP MP from Karnataka's Mysore constituency. Following the incident, Simha was removed from contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, with Mysuru royal scion Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja nominated in his place.

In connection with the breach, six individuals, including the two intruders Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D, have been arrested thus far.
