Four Russian oil tycoons have died in office since the war in Ukraine

The sudden death of Vitaly Robertus, Vice President of Lukoil, Russia's largest oil and gas company, has raised speculation and concern within Russia's business community. Robertus allegedly died by suicide in his office on March 12, according to reports from Euro News.

Reports indicate that Robertus, aged 53, was found hanging in his office after complaining of headaches and requesting medication. His death marks the fourth such incident involving a Lukoil manager since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The series of deaths among Lukoil executives began with the passing of Alexander Subbotin in May 2022, who reportedly died of a drug-induced heart attack. This was followed by the death of Ravil Maganov in September 2022, who fell from a window at a Moscow hospital. Then, in late October 2023, Vladimir Nekrasov, chairman of Lukoil's board, passed away from what the company described as heart failure.

The circumstances surrounding these deaths have sparked speculation and concern, especially given the backdrop of geopolitical tensions and the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. However, no official statements or explanations have been provided regarding the series of mysterious deaths among Lukoil executives.
