If handed a ticket for the Nawada Lok Sabha, Bihar Congress MLA suggests joining the BJP

Neetu Singh, a Congress MLA hailing from Bihar, has indicated a potential inclination towards joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) if she were to receive a ticket to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from the Nawada constituency. Presently, this constituency is represented by Lok Jan Shakti Party MP Chandan Singh.

Neetu Singh made these suggestive remarks after a meeting with Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Sinha and Samrat Chaudhary. Speaking to the media outside the Bihar Assembly, she expressed her openness to considering a switch to the BJP, contingent upon receiving the Nawada Lok Sabha ticket from the party.

"I will contemplate the prospect of joining the BJP if they nominate me for the Lok Sabha elections in Nawada," she conveyed to reporters, addressing queries regarding political allegiances.

Further elaborating, Neetu Singh clarified, "I hold no animosity towards the Congress or any of its members. However, I advocate for the selection of local candidates to contest elections, and as a local candidate myself, this remains my primary concern."

This development surfaces just ahead of an anticipated rally in Patna on March 3, where Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is slated to join forces with RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury.

Moreover, the political landscape in Bihar witnessed another shake-up on February 27, as two Bihar Congress MLAs, Murari Prasad Gautam and Siddharth Saurav, tendered their resignations from the party. This move adds to the challenges faced by the opposition INDIA bloc in the state, casting shadows over the impending Lok Sabha polls.
