In Jammu & Kashmir, a house collapses in the rain, killing the mother and her three daughters



Tragically, a woman along with her three daughters, aged between two and five, met their demise as their rudimentary 'kutcha' dwelling collapsed amid incessant rainfall in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, as relayed by officials on Sunday.

The region experienced moderate to heavy downpours across March 1 and 2, resulting in widespread damage including the destruction of numerous residential structures due to fierce winds and hailstorms in various areas of the Jammu region.

In the lamentable episode occurring in Reasi, Phalla Akhter (30) and her daughters Nasima (5), Safeena Kousar (3), and Samreen Kousar (2) succumbed to the collapsing of their abode situated in Kunderdhan Mohra village within the Chassana tehsil, catalyzed by the relentless rains, according to official reports.

Additionally, two elderly family members, Kalu (60) and his wife Bano Begum (58), sustained injuries during the calamity and were promptly transported to a medical facility for treatment, as per the officials.

The retrieval of the deceased's bodies from the debris was facilitated by rescue personnel, further underscoring the gravity of the situation.
