In protest of "false promises," DMK workers distribute vada while donning masks inspired by Modi

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), led by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, orchestrated a demonstration on Sunday to denounce Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that his assurances are devoid of truth. DMK supporters, donning masks resembling Modi's visage, distributed 'vadas', a fried snack, symbolizing what they perceive as the dissemination of false promises.

This protest materialized after PM Modi's visit to Thiruppur and Thirunelveli on February 27 and February 28, where he castigated the state for corruption and accused the Tamil Nadu government of obstructing the realization of welfare schemes introduced by his administration.

By donning masks resembling PM Modi's face, DMK members aimed to underscore their contention that the Prime Minister's pledges are insincere. They further contended that the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) purported commitments, such as the pledge of depositing Rs 15 lakh into every bank account, the establishment of an AIIMS in Madurai, and the generation of employment opportunities for the youth, are merely hollow promises.

During his recent visit to the southern state, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) second spaceport in Kulasekarapattinam. Before this, PM Modi inaugurated three new facilities to bolster ISRO's launch capabilities, while also conferring wings upon the inaugural crew of India's Gaganyaan mission.
