India calls China's claim to Arunachal Pradesh absurd

The Ministry of External Affairs has categorically dismissed China's recent claims regarding Arunachal Pradesh, calling them "absurd" and reaffirming the state's status as an "inalienable" part of India. Responding to statements made by the Chinese Defence Ministry spokesperson, the MEA emphasized that Arunachal Pradesh has always been and will continue to be an integral part of India, rejecting any baseless arguments.

The MEA spokesperson reiterated India's stance, emphasizing that the people of Arunachal Pradesh will continue to benefit from India's development initiatives and infrastructure projects. This statement comes in the wake of China's repeated attempts to assert its claims over Arunachal Pradesh, known as 'Zangnan' in Chinese terminology.

Despite China's objections and previous diplomatic tensions over visits by Indian leaders to Arunachal Pradesh, India remains steadfast in asserting its sovereignty over the region. India has consistently maintained that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of the country, dismissing any attempts by China to alter this reality through naming conventions or territorial claims.

The recent remarks by the Chinese Defence Ministry spokesperson came shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Arunachal Pradesh and inaugurated the Sela tunnel, aimed at enhancing all-weather connectivity to Tawang. This infrastructure project, crucial for strategic and logistical purposes, has drawn diplomatic protests from China, reflecting the ongoing complexities in India-China relations, particularly concerning border issues.
