Kalpana, the jailed wife of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, meets Sunita Kejriwal

Kalpana Soren, the wife of jailed former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, met with Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, at the latter's residence in New Delhi. This gesture of solidarity comes as Arvind Kejriwal is currently in Enforcement Directorate custody after his arrest in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case.

Following their meeting, Delhi minister Atishi praised the two "strong women" in a tweet, suggesting that the BJP should be apprehensive in the face of their resilience against the actions of central agencies targeting their husbands.

Kalpana Soren had previously spoken to Sunita Kejriwal to offer support after Arvind Kejriwal's arrest. She expressed empathy for Sunita's situation, highlighting the challenges faced by democratically elected leaders amidst such circumstances.

Hemant Soren, who serves as the working president of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), was also arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a separate case related to an alleged land scam in February. Similarly, Arvind Kejriwal's remand was extended by the court.

During his court hearing, Kejriwal alleged that the Enforcement Directorate's motive was to undermine the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and accused the agency of attempting to fabricate charges against him in the liquor policy case.

Both Kejriwal and Soren have faced legal challenges and criticism, with the former describing his arrest as part of a larger scheme to discredit him and his party.
