Kangra and Mandi seats are expected to host Himachal Congress rebels for the BJP

The BJP is eyeing an advantage in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Himachal Pradesh by possibly fielding Congress rebels as candidates. There's speculation that Sudhir Sharma, a disqualified MLA, might be nominated from Kangra constituency.

Although the BJP has finalized candidates for Shimla and Hamirpur seats, they are yet to name contenders for Kangra and Mandi. Congress rebels, disqualified for cross-voting in Rajya Sabha polls, are awaiting the Supreme Court's March 18 hearing to potentially regain their membership.

The BJP is closely watching the political dynamics, anticipating further dissent within the Congress ranks. They aim for a repeat of their 2019 landslide victory in the Lok Sabha polls, as predicted by the India Today Mood of the Nation poll.

Kangra, historically favorable to the BJP, may see Sudhir Sharma's nomination despite other prominent BJP leaders being considered. Meanwhile, Mandi, a Congress stronghold, faces uncertainty due to internal party rifts, especially with Vikramaditya Singh and Pratibha Singh expressing discontent.

The Congress, despite attempts to reconcile differences, faces challenges in maintaining unity, potentially affecting its performance in the upcoming polls in Himachal Pradesh.
