Kate Middleton issues an apology for her Mother's Day cropped family photo

The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, issued an apology for the 'confusion' stemming from the image disseminated by Kensington Palace, amid allegations of manipulation.

In a statement shared by X, she expressed regret, stating, "As an amateur photographer, I occasionally experiment with editing techniques. I want to extend my apologies for any uncertainty caused by the family photograph we shared yesterday. I trust that everyone celebrating had a joyous Mother’s Day."

Several prominent news agencies, including the Associated Press and Reuters, retracted the image featuring the 42-year-old Duchess of Cambridge and her children earlier in the day. Concerns were raised suggesting that the photograph might have undergone alterations or been generated using artificial intelligence technology.

The palace had originally released the photo on Sunday in honor of Mother's Day, depicting Kate Middleton smiling at the camera with her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, surrounding her. It was stated that Prince William, aged 41, had captured the image earlier in the week at the family's Windsor residence.

This image marked the first official release featuring the Duchess of Cambridge since her abdominal surgery in January. Its publication followed weeks of speculation and social media conjecture regarding her health status and whereabouts.
