Kerala Congress leader is the target of a complaint for 'incorrectly' singing the national anthem

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kerala has initiated legal action against Palode Ravi, the Thiruvananthapuram District President of the Congress party, alleging that he incorrectly sang the national anthem during the culmination of the Congress's 'Samaragni' rally on Thursday.

The complaint, formally lodged by BJP district vice president RS Rajeev, was officially submitted to the City Police Commissioner, accusing Ravi of displaying disrespect towards the national anthem.

A video capturing Ravi's rendition of the national anthem garnered substantial traction on various social media platforms, prompting Congress MLA T Siddique to promptly intervene and ensure the accurate rendition of the anthem thereafter.

Subsequently, Siddique addressed the media, characterizing the incorrect rendition as an inadvertent error and appealing to the public not to amplify the issue beyond proportion.

Moreover, Siddique drew attention to a similar occurrence involving members of the BJP in Bengal in 2021. He shared a video on his Facebook account, purportedly depicting BJP leaders incorrectly singing the national anthem at an event attended by Smriti Irani in 2021 in West Bengal.

The 'Samaragni' rally, spearheaded by Kerala Congress President K Sudhakaran and Opposition Leader VD Satheesan, concluded in Thiruvananthapuram amidst notable attendees, including Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Congress leaders Sachin Pilot and Shashi Tharoor, among others.
