Kejriwal, while being escorted to the Rouse Avenue Court for his remand hearing, stated, "My life is dedicated to the country, whether I am inside jail or outside." This succinct declaration encapsulates his steadfast commitment to serving the nation's interests, irrespective of the challenges he faces.
The federal probe agency has pressed for a 10-day remand of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, alleging his pivotal role as the "key conspirator" in the now-defunct Delhi liquor policy case. Kejriwal's arrest swiftly followed the rejection of his plea for interim protection from arrest by the high court.
According to the Enforcement Directorate, Kejriwal purportedly received substantial kickbacks from the 'South group' in exchange for his involvement in formulating and executing the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. Additional Solicitor General (ASG) SV Raju, representing the agency, revealed that Kejriwal allegedly demanded Rs 100 crore from certain individuals associated with the 'South group' for financing his electoral campaign in Punjab.
Amidst heightened security measures, Kejriwal was brought before the trial court around 2 pm. This move occurred shortly after he withdrew his plea against the Enforcement Directorate's arrest order from the Supreme Court, signaling a significant development in the legal proceedings surrounding the case.
