Mamata Banerjee: BJP must win 200 seats, and she will not permit the CAA in Bengal

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took a dig at the BJP's ambitious goal of winning over 400 seats in the Lok Sabha polls, challenging the party to first secure at least 200 constituencies. She made these remarks while addressing her first rally in the election season after her recent injury.

Banerjee dismissed the BJP's "400 paar" slogan, citing the party's failure to achieve its target of 200-plus seats in the 2021 assembly polls, where it managed to secure only 77 seats.

Asserting her stance against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Banerjee warned people that applying for the CAA could potentially designate them as foreigners. She urged them not to apply for it and vowed not to allow the implementation of CAA or the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in West Bengal.

Banerjee also criticized the opposition alliance partners, CPI(M) and Congress, accusing them of aligning with the BJP in West Bengal instead of forming a united opposition front. She emphasized that there was no INDIA alliance in West Bengal and accused the CPI(M) and Congress of working in favor of the BJP.

Banerjee highlighted the expulsion of TMC MP Mahua Moitra from the Lok Sabha, alleging that it was due to her vocal opposition against the BJP. She pledged support to Moitra and rallied for her candidacy in Krishnanagar.
