May 13 votes in Andhra; four stages of polling in Odisha; April 19 polls in Arunachal Pradesh; and Sikkim



The Election Commission of India (ECI) has released the schedules for Assembly elections in four states - Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Sikkim. The counting of votes for all four states is slated for June 4.

These states will hold simultaneous Assembly elections, coinciding with the Lok Sabha elections, which will commence on April 19.

In Andhra Pradesh, elections for the 175-member Assembly will take place in a single phase on May 13. Arunachal Pradesh's 60-member Legislative Assembly elections are scheduled for April 19. Similarly, Sikkim's Assembly elections, comprising 32 constituencies, will occur in a single phase on April 19. The current tenure of the Sikkim government, led by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, will conclude in June 2024.

Odisha's Assembly elections will span four phases, with polling dates set for May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1.

Additionally, the ECI has announced that Lok Sabha elections will transpire in seven phases from April 19 to June 1. The polling dates for the Lok Sabha elections are April 19, 26, May 7, 13, 20, and 25, and June 1. The counting of votes for both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections will be conducted on June 4.

By-polls for 26 Assembly seats will also be held concurrently with the Lok Sabha elections.
