Mumbai witnesses opposition merriment as the final leg of Rahul Gandhi's yatra approaches the city

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi concluded his two-month-long 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' with a 'padayatra' (foot march) followed by a mega Opposition rally in Mumbai on Sunday. The padayatra, named 'Nyay Sankalp Padyatra', started from Mani Bhavan, the residence of Mahatma Gandhi in Mumbai, and culminated at the historic August Kranti Maidan. Rahul Gandhi's sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and several other prominent leaders, including actor Swara Bhasker and Mumbai Congress president Varsha Gaikwad, participated in the event.

The mega Opposition rally at Shivaji Park saw the presence of various leaders, including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, aiming to showcase unity and strength ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra commenced from Manipur on January 14 and traversed through various states, focusing on the message of 'nyay' (justice) and interacting with people along the way. The yatra entered Mumbai from Thane on its 63rd day, with Rahul Gandhi paying homage to Dr BR Ambedkar at Chaityabhoomi and reading the Preamble of the Constitution.

During a rally in Mumbai's Dharavi, Rahul Gandhi reiterated Congress's promises, including conducting a caste census and ensuring Rs 1 lakh annually for poor women in their bank accounts if the party returns to power. He criticized the government's approach towards the redevelopment of Dharavi, targeting the Adani Group's involvement in the project and alleging coercion in acquiring land.

The yatra covered significant regions in Maharashtra, including tribal-dominated areas like Nandurbhar, before concluding in Mumbai.
