The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Telangana made a significant discovery on Wednesday, uncovering assets valued at over Rs three crore from a government official in Karimnagar.
The raids targeted the residence of Markala Rajani, who holds the position of Tahsildar and Joint Sub-registrar of Jammikunta Mandal in Karimnagar, as well as five other locations associated with her relatives, associates, and benamis.
During the operation, the ACB unearthed assets worth Rs 3.2 crore, including cash, gold ornaments, vehicles, and agricultural land, among other valuables. As a result of the searches conducted at Rajani's residence, the ACB has initiated legal proceedings against her.
This recent raid follows a similar operation conducted last month, where the ACB recovered over Rs 65 lakh in cash and more than 3 kg of gold from an official of the tribal welfare department in Hyderabad. The investigation into that case also led to the seizure of various illegal documents, including land-related papers, from the accused executive engineer, K Jaga Jyothi.
In yet another recent incident, ACB officials arrested Lachhu Naik, the Superintendent of Nalgonda Government Hospital, for accepting a bribe of Rs 3 lakh. Naik was apprehended red-handed while in the act of receiving the bribe on February 17, 2024.
