Picture shows suspect in the Bengaluru blast inside a cafe with a plate of rava idli

In the case of the Bengaluru Rameshwaram Cafe Blast, surveillance footage captured a person believed to be the suspect, estimated to be approximately 30 years old, entering the cafe premises carrying a bag, suspected to contain an explosive device, at approximately 11:30 am. The individual, wearing a grey shirt, white cap, and a mask, was photographed holding a plate of idli inside the renowned Rameshwaram Cafe.

Reports from authorities indicate that the explosion occurred around 1 pm on Friday, causing injuries to 10 individuals, including both cafe staff and patrons, in the Whitefield area of Bengaluru.

The sequence of events unfolded as follows: at around 11:38 am, the suspect ordered rava idli and was captured on CCTV footage positioned above a counter within the cafe. However, the individual did not consume the food and was observed near the wash basin around 11:44 am. Shortly thereafter, at approximately 11:45 am, the suspect exited the cafe premises. The detonation of the explosive device transpired around 12:56 pm.

Additional CCTV footage depicted the suspect approaching the restaurant while carrying the aforementioned bag.

Law enforcement authorities suspect that the blast was triggered by an improvised explosive device (IED) concealed within the bag, possibly equipped with a timer mechanism.

In response to the incident, a case has been filed under the rigorous Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosives Substances Act concerning the explosion.

After the occurrence, personnel from both the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the National Security Guard (NSG) arrived at the scene on Saturday to aid local law enforcement agencies in their investigative efforts.

Divya Raghavendra Rao, co-founder and managing director of Rameshwaram Cafe, affirmed their cooperation with authorities and officials involved in the ongoing investigations.
