Pinarayi Vijayan directs the CBI to look into a veterinary university student's death

Kerala's Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, made an announcement on Saturday, stating his intention to recommend a CBI investigation into the demise of Sidharthan, a student at the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University.

Sidharthan was discovered deceased in his hostel bathroom in Wayanad, following a meeting between his family and the Chief Minister.

In connection with the student's death within the campus premises, the Governor suspended the Vice-Chancellor of the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University earlier that same Saturday.

JS Sidharthan, a second-year undergraduate at the Veterinary University in Wayanad, was found hanging in the college hostel on February 18. His family has contested the ruling of suicide, asserting instead that it was a case of homicide.

Subsequently, the police apprehended 11 individuals implicated in the incident. They stand accused of subjecting the 20-year-old student to ragging and torment before his demise.
