PM challenges Trinamool over Sandeshkhali and urges women to use their votes to exact revenge

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a rally in the Arambagh region of Hooghly district, West Bengal, on Friday, expressed the collective anguish and indignation felt across the nation, particularly among the women of the state, regarding the disturbing reports of alleged sexual assault emerging from Sandeshkhali. He emphasized the need for people to seek retribution for the suffering endured by the victims through their votes.

In his address, Prime Minister Modi also invoked the memory of social reformer Raja Ram Mohan Roy, suggesting that if he were alive today, he would be deeply distressed by the reported incidents of sexual violence against the women of Sandeshkhali.

"The nation witnesses the atrocities inflicted upon the sisters of Sandeshkhali by the TMC," Modi stated. "This has stirred nationwide outrage. Raja Ram Mohan Roy's soul would grieve over the atrocities in Sandeshkhali. A TMC leader has crossed all boundaries. BJP leaders in the state have valiantly stood for the honor and dignity of these women. Consequently, the police were compelled to apprehend him (TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan)."

Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her perceived lack of response to the Sandeshkhali issue.

He asserted that the arrest of Trinamool MP Sheikh Shahjahan, who faces accusations of sexual assault and land encroachment, was a direct result of the pressure exerted by the BJP on the authorities.

The Prime Minister highlighted the suspension of Sheikh Shahjahan from the Trinamool Congress following his arrest on Thursday.

Modi also questioned the silence of the Opposition INDIA bloc regarding the Sandeshkhali incident, likening their inaction to Mahatma Gandhi's depiction of the three monkeys. "All the prominent leaders of the INDI alliance remained silent on the Sandeshkhali incident. INDI alliance leaders were akin to Gandhi's three monkeys," he remarked.

Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated projects totaling Rs 7,200 crore and laid the foundation stones for various initiatives in the Arambagh area of Hooghly district, West Bengal, on Friday. These projects span diverse sectors including railways, ports, oil pipelines, LPG supply, and wastewater treatment.
