Police in Bengaluru suspect murder after discovering a deceased Uzbek woman in a hotel

The tragic death of a 37-year-old woman from Uzbekistan, identified as Zareen, in her hotel room in Bengaluru has raised concerns and prompted a police investigation.

Zareen had arrived in Bengaluru on March 5 and was staying at a hotel in the Seshadripuram area of the city. The hotel staff discovered her lifeless body when they attempted to contact her at 4:30 pm but received no response. Upon using a master key to enter her room, they found Zareen deceased.

Police suspect foul play, specifically suggesting that Zareen may have been smothered. Her body was subsequently sent to Bowring Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Shekhar HT, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Bengaluru Central, confirmed the suspicions, stating that Zareen was likely alone at the time of the incident.

Following the discovery of Zareen's body, a forensic team, along with police personnel and a dog squad, arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation. A case of mysterious death was registered based on the hotel manager's complaint, and authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and hotel registers as part of their investigation.

Regarding Zareen's immigration status, particularly whether she arrived on a valid visa or had overstayed, the police indicated that they would examine her passport as part of their inquiry.
