Putin said the crisis between Russia and NATO is one step away from World War 3

Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a stark warning to the West on Monday, cautioning that direct conflict between Russia and the US-led NATO military alliance could escalate into World War Three. Despite the severity of the situation, Putin emphasized that few, if any, desired such an outcome.

The ongoing Ukraine war has strained Moscow's relations with the West to an extent not seen since the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. While Putin has consistently highlighted the dangers of nuclear conflict, he maintains that he has not deemed it necessary to resort to nuclear weapons in the context of the Ukraine conflict.

Putin's comments come amidst varied responses from Western leaders regarding potential future actions in Ukraine. French President Emmanuel Macron's suggestion of the possibility of deploying ground troops in Ukraine contrasts with the stance of many Western nations, although some Eastern European countries have expressed support for such measures.

Regarding the presence of NATO military personnel in Ukraine, Putin pointed out the risks involved, noting that they were exposed to danger and casualties. He also hinted at the potential creation of a "buffer zone" within Ukrainian territory to safeguard Russian borders if attacks persist.

Putin's remarks also touched on the need for peace talks in Ukraine and criticized the US electoral system, dismissing it as undemocratic. He referenced former President Donald Trump's experiences and rebuffed Western criticism of Russia's recent presidential election, which the White House deemed unfair.

Regarding the fate of opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who died in prison under suspicious circumstances, Putin stated that Navalny had "passed away" and revealed his agreement to a prisoner swap deal shortly before Navalny's death. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov refuted accusations of Putin's involvement in Navalny's demise.

Putin's comments underscore the escalating tensions surrounding the Ukraine conflict and the complex geopolitical dynamics at play between Russia and the West.
