Rahul Gandhi accuses the BJP of "match-fixing," saying the PM picked umpires to go 400 paar

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi delivered a scathing attack on the BJP during his address at the 'Loktantra Bachao' rally in Delhi's Ramlila Maidan. He criticized the BJP's "400 paar slogan," stating that achieving such a goal was not possible without match-fixing. He accused the Prime Minister of choosing "umpires" to ensure the BJP's victory.

Rahul Gandhi's remarks came in the context of the rally organized by the Opposition INDIA bloc to protest against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate. Kejriwal's arrest was related to a money laundering case linked to Delhi's now-scrapped excise policy.

Gandhi emphasized that without methods like electronic voting machines (EVMs), match-fixing, manipulation of social media, and pressuring the press, the BJP could not win more than 180 seats in elections.

Drawing an analogy with cricket, Gandhi likened the BJP's tactics to match-fixing, where umpires are pressurized, players are bought, and captains are threatened to win matches. He criticized the closure of Congress party bank accounts during elections, questioning the fairness of the electoral process.

Gandhi accused the Prime Minister and "3-4 crony capitalists" of engaging in match-fixing to undermine the Constitution. He urged people to vote with full force to prevent the BJP's alleged attempts to destroy the Constitution.

The rally witnessed the presence of various Opposition leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, NCP (SCP) chief Sharad Pawar, and others.
