Rejecting Arvind Kejriwal's "CAA refugees will get jobs" assertion, the BJP says

The BJP criticized Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal for his remarks on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and urged him to refrain from spreading falsehoods about the law.

Responding to Kejriwal's allegations that the BJP intended to settle poor immigrants from Pakistan and Bangladesh in India, senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad emphasized that the CAA was aimed at providing citizenship to persecuted minorities from neighboring countries and would not affect anyone's employment or citizenship status. He condemned Kejriwal's statements and questioned the logic behind his remarks.

Similarly, BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa condemned Kejriwal's comments on the CAA, labeling them as reflective of a "disgusting mentality."

The CAA, which aims to grant citizenship to undocumented non-Muslim migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan who arrived in India before December 31, 2014, has been a contentious issue.

Kejriwal criticized the BJP-led government's implementation of the CAA, claiming it would lead to a significant influx of poor minorities from Pakistan and Bangladesh into India. He expressed concerns about job opportunities, housing, and potential law and order issues resulting from the implementation of the law.

Kejriwal alleged that the BJP's motive behind implementing the CAA was to gain a vote bank, particularly from the newly settled minorities, and accused the party of engaging in divisive politics.

He also highlighted the anti-CAA protests in northeastern states, including Assam, and argued that the cultural identity of the region would be diluted due to the influx of migrants.

Kejriwal stated that the AAP would raise the issue of the CAA during its campaign for the Lok Sabha polls, underscoring the significance of the matter in national politics.
