Retaking Elon Musk's position as the richest man in the world is Jeff Bezos

Amazon's founder, Jeff Bezos, has ascended once again to the position of the world's wealthiest individual, reclaiming the coveted top spot from Elon Musk. As per the latest data from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Bezos currently boasts a net worth of USD 200 billion, surpassing Musk, whose fortunes have slightly diminished to USD 198 billion.

The Index, released on Tuesday, elucidates that over the past year, Tesla's chief executive experienced a significant loss of approximately USD 31 billion, while Bezos enjoyed an increase of USD 23 billion in his wealth.

This shifting of fortunes coincided with a notable downturn in Tesla's stock value, which plummeted by over 7 percent on Monday.

In January 2021, Musk managed to surpass Bezos, claiming the title of the world's richest individual with a net worth of USD 195 billion. However, the dynamics of wealth fluctuated, and two years later, in May 2023, Musk reclaimed the top position after surpassing Bernard Arnault, the chief executive of luxury conglomerate LVMH, who briefly held the title.

Arnault initially surpassed Musk as the world's richest in December 2022, during a period when Tesla encountered a substantial decrease in its market value.

The latest Bloomberg Billionaires Index now positions Arnault as the third wealthiest individual globally, with a net worth of USD 197 billion, followed by Meta's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, with USD 179 billion, and Microsoft's co-founder, Bill Gates, with USD 150 billion.

Additionally, Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Industries, and Gautam Adani, the Chairman of the Adani Group, hold the 11th and 12th spots on the list, respectively.

Ambani's net worth is estimated at USD 115 billion, while Adani's stands at USD 104 billion.
