Six Pakistani guys were detained with drugs worth Rs. 400 crore close to the Gujarat coast

For the second time within a month, authorities have intercepted a significant drug shipment off the coast of Gujarat, underscoring the persistent challenge of narcotics smuggling in the region. In this recent incident, six Pakistani nationals were apprehended aboard a vessel carrying drugs estimated to be worth Rs 400 crore near Porbandar, Gujarat.

The coordinated efforts of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Indian Coast Guard, and Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) led to the successful interception of the Pakistani nationals as they attempted to infiltrate Indian territory. According to reports from the Gujarat ATS, the individuals intended to transport banned narcotics to destinations in Delhi and Punjab using an Indian vessel.

In recognition of the ATS's commendable operation, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel extended his congratulations and announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for the officials involved.

This recent seizure marks the second major drug consignment intercepted off Gujarat's coastline in the past 30 days. Earlier, on February 28, authorities seized approximately 3,300 kg of narcotics, valued at over Rs 2,000 crore, from a boat reportedly manned by suspected Pakistani crew members. This operation stands as the largest narcotics seizure in the Indian subcontinent to date.

The Indian Coast Guard has been actively involved in various operations targeting narcotics trafficking, recovering drugs worth crores of rupees through multiple sea-based interventions. These efforts underscore the ongoing commitment to combatting the scourge of drug smuggling in the region, emphasizing the need for continued vigilance and collaborative action to address this transnational threat effectively.
