Sources: Anti-terror agency connects the Islamic State module to the Bengaluru cafe explosion

The Shivamogga ISIS module, suspected to have links to the Bengaluru Rameshwaram Cafe blast case under investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), is believed to be a significant connection in the probe. Active in Karnataka and South India for about five years, this module is alleged to have radicalized and recruited youth in the region.

Sources from the NIA have disclosed that the group may have facilitated the movement of suspects on the day of the blast and aided in obtaining explosives. The agency is now examining how individuals from Tamil Nadu and Kerala entered Karnataka with the assistance of this module to carry out the cafe blast. One key suspect, identified as Shabbir, was recently apprehended from Bellary district in Karnataka.

Additionally, the NIA has gathered substantial evidence linking the materials used in the Bengaluru Rameshwaram Cafe blast to another explosion in a Bengaluru auto. The Shivamogga module is believed to have received support from the Kerala ISIS module, also known as the Shivamoga module, which has been involved in multiple terrorist incidents in South India over the past five years.

This Karnataka-based group, centered in Thirthahalli, has reportedly radicalized individuals and expanded its network, leveraging religious leaders to propagate extremist ideologies among young people.
